Combretum Imberbe (Leadwood) (Msimbiti)

Large (up to 30 m), with silver-grey bark. Deciduous/semi-deciduous with fragrant flowers appearing in Nov to Mar and fruit appearing in Feb to Aug.

The wood is very hard and heavy and is fairly resistant to termites. Slow burning with intense heat and the ash as lime content which is used for whitewashing. A dark brown dye can be made from the roots and it has medicinal uses for diarrhea, coughs, and bilharzias.
